Flame retardant silicone rubber extrusions

The premier choice for high-spec applications

Our flame retardant silicone rubber has been designed to meet the rigorous demands of rail, aerospace, military and defence, aerospace and aviation, automotive, construction and general industrial sectors.

With over three decades of experience in silicone rubber extrusion manufacturing, we offer a repeatable, reliable service to our customers, and welcome new enquiries and projects for flame retardant silicone rubber.

Material grades of flame retardant silicone rubber

Our FR70R flame retardant silicone rubber is a low smoke, zero halogen, low toxicity grade with excellent fire resistance and is a popular choice where safety is paramount, especially in enclosed and confined spaces such as public transit systems, aircraft, and ships and submarines.

The FR40SB2, FR50SB2, FR60SB2 and FR70SB2 materials can be used where versatility in hardness choice is required, these grades offer an increased flame retardancy when compared to general purpose silicone rubber.

Flame Retardancy

FR70R would achieve the requirements of UL94-V0* at a thickness of just 3mm and, if tested, the FRxxSB2 range would be able to comply with UL94-V0 at 6mm.

If you do not need to meet such stringent requirements, General Purpose silicone rubber, such as our GP range, would meet the requirements of UL94-HB*.

Low Smoke Density

Unlike traditional plastics that fill rooms with dense smoke when they burn, the FR70R grade produces minimal smoke. This ensures clear visibility and easier access during emergency evacuations, meeting stringent industry standards for smoke density.

Low Toxicity

Safety is paramount, especially in enclosed and confined spaces such as public transit systems. The FR70R grade is engineered to ensure low toxicity, meaning that in the rare event of a fire, no harmful toxic fumes are produced. This critical feature makes it an ideal choice for environments where human safety is a priority.

Options for flame retardant silicone rubber extrusions

FR70R is available as a 70 shore silicone rubber; FR40SBR, FR50SB2, FR60SB2 and FR70SB2 are 40 to 70 shore hardness; and all can be pigmented to pale colours. (Please note: FR70R will not pigment black, but we can achieve Grey RAL7016.)
