When we think about what constitutes an extreme condition building or manufacturing material, we don’t tend to think about silicone rubber but we should. Silicone rubber is so versatile and can be made to withstand such a wide range of conditions that it can be used in many situations where materials someone would normally think of as ‘tough’ simply wouldn’t cope. Incredibly wide temperature tolerances, pressure resistance, strength, flexibility, electrical insulation and hygiene are just some of the qualities that make silicone rubber so suitable for the following extreme conditions.
Due to overwhelming customer demand for our quality silicone extrusions, Advanced Materials has been expanding its operations continually over the last few years. This has allowed us to meet the requirements of our customers quickly, efficiently and to the highest standard.
3D printing is changing the future of manufacturing, enabling users to create customised parts that are functional. These machines are used for an infinite number of applications and have the potential to be used within many industries including construction, pharmaceutical, space exploration, engineering, automotive and communications amongst others already employing 3D printing technology.
Modular, or pre-fabricated, buildings are nothing new but modern designs, high quality materials and the desperate need for more space mean that their use is dramatically on the rise. Shabby post-war school buildings and temporary, badly-made holiday chalets of the past have given modular buildings a bad name. However, with better quality materials and components being used in their manufacture and so many benefits to using them, construction experts are predicting their extensive use in the coming years.
Aircraft now have the potential to fly higher, faster and more efficiently than ever before. In just the last year we have seen innovations in enhanced gliding capabilities and new fuel usage, with other clever developments in aerodynamics and safety, where silicon rubber extrusions have a part to play.
Transport has long been a target for cutting CO2 emissions, as countries around the world desperately look for new ways to generate energy through renewable sources. Recently, attention has turned to rail and suppliers to the rail industry, who are coming under pressure to offer the most efficient solutions for rail applications and to innovate in the way they deliver their services.
It’s an exciting day for us all here at Advanced Materials – we have a brand new website.
