General Description of
Materials Usage

General
Purpose

40 – 80

Yes

-60°C – +200 °C

Our most popular material range. Very good physical properties, and a wide range of hardness available, these grades are suitable for complex extruded profiles, mouldings, joined rings, frames and cut gaskets.

High
Strength

40 – 70

Yes

– 60 °C– + 200°C

Tear Resistant materials are particularly suited for pump tubing, inflatable seals and any parts with repeated movement. This range also offers increased resistance to abrasion, and great flexibility.

Platinum
Cured

60 – 70

Yes

– 60°C – +200°C

Very pure silicone rubber suitable for food processing and medical devices. It’s excellent translucency makes it a great choice for lighting applications. Once fully post cured this grade is PWIS free making it a great choice for masking.

High
Temperature

40 – 70

Yes

– 60°C – +300°C

These grades offer well balanced mechanical properties and good hot air resistance. Frequently used for autoclave seals, oven doors, fryer seals and all types of food processing where high temperatures are involved.

Metal Detectable

20 – 70

Yes

-60 to +200°C

These materials can be detected by metal detectors making them particularly suitable for food processing lines and equipment and other areas where identifying contamination is essential. Often supplied in Blue.
Flame
Retardant

40 – 70

No

-60 to +250°C

Often supplied to industries including construction, automotive, railway, marine and aerospace applications. Ask us about specific grades for low smoke & low toxicity applications, for Aircraft FAR 25.853(A), Rail EN 45545-2, and UL94-V0 Flammability.

Soft Grades

20 – 40º

Yes

-60 to +200°C

The GP20 to GP40 range from Advanced Materials represents a Low Durometer choice of silicone rubber grade with good mechanical properties. They can be supplied for extruded profiles, including D sections, P sections, Cord, Tubing, Mouldings and Joined frame gaskets and profile rings. These Rubbers can be supplied pigmented or transparent.

Steam Resistant

60º

Yes

-60 to +250°C

Our SR60 material is suitable for applications where the silicone rubber will be exposed to steam. Suitable for use in contact with food. Used in autoclaves, steamers and other gaskets. Can be pigmented to pale shades, base material is white.

Low Temperature

60º

Yes

-100°C to 200°C

LT60 is a Low temperature resistant silicone rubber material from which we can manufacture extruded profiles, tubing, gaskets, cord, and mouldings. Applications include seals for the pharmaceutical industries, hygienic seals for low temperature transportation, and some applications in the aerospace industry Also known as PVMQ, this is phenyl methyl silicone.

Food Grade
Sponge

Yes

-60 to +200°C

Food grade silicone sponge developed for seals and dampening on food production lines. Resistant to ultra-violet light, corona, arcing and ozone. It is excellent for vibration damping and for protecting and cushioning components. The materials exhibit a low degree of moisture absorption, therefore mechanical properties show little change, even after prolonged periods of immersion. These grades can be pigmented to pale pastel shades. From the FGS materials we can manufacture cord, strips, and very simple profiles.

Electrical
Sleeving

55º

No

-60 to +300°C

High tear strength grade of silicone rubber, heat stabilised for use at temperature. Suitable for applications such as peristaltic pump tubing, inflatable seals and extruded profiles and small bore silicone sleeving. Used in electrical light fittings and as marker cables.

Highly filled

40 – 80º

No

-60 to +200°C

This highly filled range of Silicone Rubbers has good physical properties and good UV resistance and is often used in the packaging industry. The material is available in most opaque colours. We can supply this as strip, tube, cord, complex extruded profiles or mouldings.

Softer Platinum cured

40 – 50º

Yes

-60 to +200°C

Softer grades of platinum cured silicone rubber suitable for all applications where good translucency is required. PC40 and PC50 have good flexibility, less yellowing and are suitable for food processing applications.

Traditional Silicone Sponge

No

-60 to +200°C

A traditional Silicone Sponge, excellent for vibration damping, and for protecting and cushioning components. Available in medium to firm densities. All grades exhibit a low degree of moisture absorption. Also available with self-adhesive backing.

Fluorosilicone

50 – 70º

No

-60 to +200°C

Fluorosilicone with flexibility over a wide range of temperature. Fluorosilicone has much more chemical compatibility with a variety of solvents, fuels, oils and many more fluids. These grades can be supplied for extruded profiles, including D sections, P sections, Cord, and Tubing, and can be supplied pale colours, often supplied white or blue. Also known as FMVQ.

Need something more specific? Just ask! We also offer grades for drinking water, very soft shore hardness, antifriction, thermally conductive, antimicrobial, and others. We can supply custom grades to meet customer specifications .
